The tautology of the erasure intended here as the anticipated ruin of a never embodied matrix. This necessarily involves the status of a trace that keeps on appearing in spite of an erasure and keeps on disappearing in spite of an appearance. We could ask ourselves what kind of gaze we need just to be able to face this sort of trace that keeps on tracing its stillness. In fact, what kind of trace is a trace that never stops foiling itself through a trace that will never become a trace. Is it still a trace? Has it ever been a trace? Has it ever been promised itself to a trace that will be able to approach to some kind of trace? Is this trace a metaphor of something or, in this case, the metaphor is ‘only’ the hampered metaphor of itself? For this reason we could try to approach here the notion of dead metaphor. This metaphor is something that lost all the links from a cause that unavoidably could trigger any kind of prosthesis or graft, a metaphor far from being entombed in an hermeneutics of the palimpsest intended as something that has to be reenacted through a simultaneous retention expressly conceived to cover what will never to able to be retained. This blocked metaphor stammers a metaphor without metaphor that annihilates every metaphor. Maybe we could talk about something incapable to absorb the condition of its loss, something that relapses a kind of forcluded retention that no retention will ever be able to retain. A retention that invalidates itself through a proper that threatens and haunts every property. This is perhaps what we intend here as the tautology of the erasure: a barred trace of a not reversible metaphor that never stops repeat-ing its impossibile repetition, in other words, the atarassic inertia that enables the primal rejection of its irrevocable sense. A sense that therefore makes no sense but only, if that is the case, its only sense. Something that erases its presence through a presence that erodes the margins of its non-property. This erasure seems like a self suppression in a presence, a presence that will never be there because it will have always been here, in the indelible erasure that foils both the presence and the absence. A metaphor that does not know anything about itself because of the unutterable segregation of its nouomenon, a metaphor incapable to recognize itself through the trick of a metonomy that tracks and traps its indemonstrable soliloquy in the safe harbour of a shifting signifier, charged to bury this an asemic clot through a postponed suture of a supplementary option and solution.
